Grasscloth 312032 Sale Textile Wallcovering – The wallcovering is made in China by craftsmen from plant fibres which are harvested, hand selected, washed, dried and bleached in the sunshine. They are brought together and tied by before being hand woven on ancestral looms. If necessary the fibres are knotted together first. The complete process is done by hand. Depending on the fibres used, a good craftsman weaves 75cm per hour. When the weaving is finished the cloth is paperbacked for easier hanging . (sometimes sheets of approx 91 x 91 cm are used) he wallcovering is now ready for dyeing. The cold dye is applied by brush . Finally the quality is checked before the wallcovering is despatched to the port of Shanghai.
It will be clear that because of the natural fibres and the small scale production used by craftsmen , this wallcovering shows irregularities in texture and variations in colour. These factors contribute to the characteristics and decorative charm of these wallcoverings. They are not recommended when an even or regular aspect is required both in colour and texture.
